State of Me: Proposal season is winding down THANK GOD so my head is above water (or paperwork) and I can breathe again. Which means Arthur and Phoebe will be much more active than they have the last few months.

Phoebe, she hasn’t really dealt with the divorce from Cole. She never really closes her heart and will always be a romantic, but she’s been skating through her time on the island. There’s been flirting, fun and recently no strings, all fun sex. Little things have been piling up and likely will come to a head after seeing Kate watch her life on screen, seeing her reaction to Declan leaving and being thrown into the Old West with very painful memories. All of them connected to memories of Cole which doesn’t make the dealing with it any easier.

She’s made friends which has helped and I think a job being a bartender is going to help settle her with the familiarity of life in P3.

I’m not going to involve her in the fear plot as she’s already faced both her fears in canon before her arrival but I might toss her into an amnesia plot. We’ll see.

Phoebe hasn’t met a lot of people so I’d like to toss her about with anyone and everyone. :)

ARTHUR CAMPBELL
COVERT AFFAIRS
DOB: August 19 1956
Age: 55
Since March 2012

Arthur arrived from a parking garage in Langley to an island in the middle of nowhere. It wasn’t a surprise that he thought he’d been drugged and kidnapped and ‘Aphrodite’ was a nice California girl that broke emotionally and took the namesake of a Greek goddess. Even if she had reunited him with his wife, Joan.

While he understands that some things can’t be explained, like Joan’s body being leaner and more muscular when to him they’d just seen each other that morning, Arthur is not ready to believe Greek gods and goddesses exist.

He’s settling in nicely and has even met a few people on his own without the help of Joan but it’s no surprise to him that she’s made quite a name for herself and her connections are far reaching.

I’d like for Arthur to meet more people to blow his mind and have him begin to learn that there are more things in heaven and earth. ;)

Arthur had a habit of compartmentalizing, though that wasn’t a trait just reserved for CIA operatives, it was mostly part of the Y chromosome genetic makeup. That ability also made it easier to multi-task as he drove along the Capital Beltway outside Tyson’s Corner on his way into Langley. His mind was going over everything from the operation in Berlin that he’d just completed with Annie Walker, the memories of his past life there in the early eighties with Elsa, that was brought to the surface whether he wanted them to be there or not; as well as everything that was going on inside Clandestine Services. Running a Division or a business was always cut throat, even moreso inside the CIA when you were trying to usher in a new era of honesty and openness and very few wanted you to do it. Like a Knight getting ready for battle, Arthur used the drive time to prepare for every contingency. That also included running through the operations that were currently active.

He trusted those that he put in charge of each of his departments to get the jobs done that needed to be done. Nor was it a way to micro-manage. Arthur rarely got involved in the operations, but it was a reflection on the depth of his caring not unlike an Admiral for his fleet. While any one of ‘his’ operatives were out in the field and possibly in need, Arthur wanted to be prepared.

It barely registered his consciousness when he arrived at Langley and flashed his ID to be waved through to the underground parking reserved for the Executive Staff. There was a part of his brain that noticed his surroundings as he got out of his car and adjusted his tie. It was the ingrained technique of an operative or the military to always be aware of your surroundings. Threats could come from anywhere, even trusted allies. Which was why after he’d turned his torso to use the remote to lock his car, then turned back toward the elevator that Arthur’s first reaction was that he’d been drugged. Instead of the shadows and echoes of an underground garage, he was greeted with a warm breeze and sunshine. Since it, to his mind, had happened between one blink and the next, the obvious conclusion was drugs. Unfortunately for Arthur, there was a very long list of people that would be likely suspects.

He raised his hand to shield his eyes from the sun and to take a look around. What Arthur hadn’t expected to find was a smattering of buildings on the beach. The island, if it was an island was inhabited. The question was, was it inhabited by friend or foe and the only way to find that out was to investigate.
